Does something like prospecting holidays exist?
I've got a bunch of vacation days that I have to burn through or loose them types. I live in L.A. and was thinking it would be cool take the dogs and gf on a prospecting vacation. Have some fun, maybe find some nuggets.
Does something like that exist, or do you have to really do that on your own and plan it yourself? I've NEVER done REAL gold prospecting so I don't even know where to start. Any advice would be appreciated. |
Re: Does something like prospecting holidays exist?
Tour guides often set up such tours. Usually they will get a couple dozen Japanese businessmen and hire a local guy to bus them out to someplace where they are sure to find color.
There is a place in Arizona that is famous for tourist prospecting. It's nice, it has water and trees and stuff like that, and more gold has been found there than any other part of the state. It is called Bradshaw Mountains and it lies alongside I-17 north of Phoenix. Black Canyon city is near the middle of this area. The river there runs into Lake Pleasant and you can pan nearly anywhere along the river. Stop at a rock shop along the road and get supplies and advice. My advice is to wear cheap sneakers because the sand wears them out in a single day. |

I know a guy who goes to roaring camp every year for his vacation, they rent cabins by the week, rent equipment and teach newbies. HH Mark http://www.roaringcampgold.com/Home.htm
